Douglas Taylor

Douglas W. Taylor, Sr.,Esq., is a 1998 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Arizona, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Political Science, with a thematic Pre-Law minor. Mr. Taylor graduated cum laude earning a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from the Seattle University School of Law in Seattle, Washington, in 2001. He attended his third year of law school at the University of Arizona’s James Rogers College of Law from 2000-2001. Mr. Taylor is a proud long-time member of both the Arizona State Bar and the Pima County Bar Association.

For close to 17 years Mr. Taylor was the owner and sole practitioner at the Law Office of Douglas W. Taylor. Mr. Taylor focused his law practice primarily on representing people charged with felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses, criminal appeals, criminal post-conviction relief, juvenile delinquency matters, bond forfeitures, foreign extradition warrants and some personal injury and other civil matters. He has successfully represented defendants in just about every type of criminal case imaginable, including serious and aggravated felonies (such as homicide, sexual offenses, armed robbery, aggravated assault, armed burglary, and kidnapping), other felonies (such as aggravated DUI, white collar crimes, theft, drug possession, drug manufacture, and drug transportation offenses, fraudulent schemes and artifices, and prohibited weapons possession cases), and misdemeanors (including DUI’s, theft, prostitution, assault, disorderly conduct, driving on a suspended license, and Domestic Violence cases). He has also successfully handled over 100 restoration of civil rights after criminal conviction cases. And, he has successfully handled a number of civil matters, including personal injury, auto accident, and contract cases.

Mr. Taylor is an experienced, skilled, compassionate trial litigation attorney. He has successfully handled more than 60 criminal jury trials as lead defense counsel. He has successfully handled more than 400 criminal bench trials, successfully handled more than 300 criminal evidentiary hearings, and successfully handled thousands of other plenary criminal hearings. In all, Mr. Taylor has successfully represented thousands of criminal defendants as chief defense counsel.

In 2018, Mr. Taylor was elected as a Pima County Justice of the Peace (Judge) of the Pima County Justice Court. He retired from that honored post in January of 2022. On the bench as a county judge, Mr. Taylor presided over thousands of DUI, misdemeanor criminal, domestic violence, evictions, civil, and small claims matters, and was always delighted to have the honor of marrying couples in love.
